Wetlands
Wetlands are vital watershed components, filtering runoff and overland flows of excess
sediment, nutrients, and other pollutants; retaining flood flows before they reach the
stream and subsequently decrease flooding; stabilize stream banks; provide habitat, food,
and cover for various wildlife species; and provide recreational and educational opportunities.
The Association has bought some wetland areas and has incorporated wetlands into their treatment
facilities at Lowber and Brinkerton. Also the Association has forested buffer regions along their
stream properties.
