Newsletter staff grows

Newsletter editor Lara Hall Blosser has been joined by Caroline Kalich, a new member of the Sewickley Creek Watershed Association who is assisting as a reporter.

Caroline (Carol) is currently a proofreader for GA Communications of Atlanta, Ga., at the company's North Huntingdon site (formerly Creative Services of SuperValu, Inc., a national grocery distributor with warehouses in New Stanton and Belle Vernon). Prior to that she served as feature news and associate editor at The Catholic Accent, a newspaper of the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg, Pa., and as reporter, photographer and editor at The Advisor, published by Laurel Group in Scottdale. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she majored in secondary English education and Point Park College where she was a journalism/communications major with a concentration in newspaper reporting.

Church music has been a continuing interest; she started playing the organ at Holy Cross Church, Youngwood, in the eighth grade, and is currently head organist at the parish. Since leaving The Accent , she has taken music courses at Seton Hill College and Westmoreland County Community College.

"Earlier this year I felt it was time to do more writing and to get involved in a community activity. Henry Sobota invited me to the SCWA annual banquet in March, and both he and Joe Polansky invited me to consider writing for the association's newsletter. I welcome this opportunity to both write and be active with a group working to improve our local environment."
